Whanganui Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Pétra Allen as the new Chair of the Whanganui Rugby Board. Pétra steps into the role following the retirement of long-serving Chair Jeff Phillips, who concluded his remarkable 10-year tenure earlier this year.

A Partner at local law firm Treadwell Gordon, Pétra brings extensive governance experience, having served on the Whanganui Rugby Board for the past five years. Her professional expertise and deep commitment to the Union have positioned her well to lead the organisation into an exciting new chapter.

Joining her on the Board are Jason Caskey and Aaron Currie, two individuals who bring significant value to the Whanganui community, through their rugby knowledge, business acumen, and strong local connections.

“I’m honoured to step into the role of Chair and to serve alongside such passionate and capable individuals,” says Pétra Allen. “Whanganui Rugby has a proud history and an incredibly promising future. I’m looking forward to helping shape its continued success both on and off the field.”

Jason Caskey, known for his longstanding involvement in rugby development in the region, says:

"My years of involvement with Whanganui Rugby as a player and coach have given me a strong dedication to this Union. When the opportunity arose to serve on the Board, I was eager to support the Union in a new capacity. I am extremely passionate about seeing Whanganui rugby thrive for all Men, Women, and Children."

Aaron Currie adds:

“As General Manager of the Bullocks Group and current sponsor, I have witnessed firsthand the passion the rugby community has for this Union. When the opportunity arose to apply for a board member position, I saw it as a fantastic way to give back to the community I am deeply connected to through my work. As a passionate rugby supporter, I am excited to support the men and women who have the privilege to play for the Whanganui Rugby Football Union."

The Whanganui Rugby Board looks forward to the strategic leadership and fresh perspectives Pétra, Jason, and Aaron will bring as they help steer the organisation toward its long-term goals.
